Gaps in protection can occur when flea and tick treatments are not administered at the correct treatment interval. Bravecto Chew, Bravecto Spot-on for Dogs, Bravecto Spot-on for Cats and Barvecto Plus assists with treatment compliance for an extended period with just one dose, offering you peace of mind.

There are very few places in Australia where there are no fleas. In warmer climates, fleas are present all year round while in more mild climates fleas are present mainly from late spring through to late autumn and even longer thanks to central heating.

The fleas you see on your pet are fleas which have newly emerged from their cocoons in the home or outdoor environment and jumped on your pet. These fleas will die quickly. This is because only a small percentage of the flea population is on your pet.  Most of the flea population exists as immature stages (eggs, larvae and pupae) in your pet’s surroundings. It takes some time, up to 8 weeks, to clean out the flea population in the house. To help speed this process up, you should clean your house thoroughly (for example, by washing your pet’s bedding and thorough vacuuming the pet’s favourite spots in the house) to help reduce the number of immature fleas in the carpets, cracks and crevices in your pet’s surroundings.

If Bravecto has been correctly administered, there should be no need to re-treat prior to when the next dose is due.

When the fleas are in the process of dying their movements become un-coordinated. This may cause a skin sensation which can result in increased scratching of the pet.  However, this phenomenon is quickly resolved once the fleas are dead.

Yes.

However it is important to remember that with respect to paralysis ticks, if a tick on a dog or cat has already been attached for a few days at the time of administration of Bravecto, the product may not have enough time to kill the tick before it can cause tick paralysis.

All Bravecto products have demonstrated the ability to kill >95% of paralysis ticks within 72 hours after tick attachment. However, it is important to remember that treatment with Bravecto alone will not entirely eliminate the risk of tick paralysis. For paralysis tick control it is recommended that the

product be used in conjunction with daily searching for, and removal of, any ticks found as the risk of tick paralysis cannot be entirely eliminated.

All product labels for Bravecto can be found on the APVMA (Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority) Pubcris database.
